Face in the Window

What was happening to our country. I feel there were a lot of people just like me. We were faces in our windows, looking out, wondering what in the world is going on. We have some evil giants trying to stomp us down, and they are trying to turn our country into something we cannot accept. God is love, but He is not just soft, mushy, quiet love. God has a temper, and He has displayed it in His Word. The scolding poems (the face in the window poems) came to me in a basically complete form. To me, they were a gift. I barely changed a word or corrected any of them. It is okay for us to use righteous indignation to fight what is wrong. We are not doormats for someone to wipe their feet on. If someone is trying to walk all over you, pull yourself out from underneath them and knock them on their backsides. God uses tough love for correction and teaching. God will show His wrath when He is angered. He displays His righteous indignation. He offers the greatest love imaginable. He offers mercy and grace. Don't forget He has a sense of humor. God has a wide range of emotions and so do we. God loves America. God's love is alive. God loves to hear from us, and He is saying, "Where are you?"

I love to write poems about God's love for us and my love for Him. You can be one of the faces that belong to God. Keep your Gospel armor on and always be willing to fight what is wrong. Now that is a good fight. It is a fiction based on a true story about two teenagers who met at a boot camp in the Army Air Corps in the early 1940s. They became friends and decided to head off to a pilot training school in Marana, Arizona. It’s about the experiences they shared in training and the crash that almost took their lives.

Face the Window
Hidden Hills

Hidden Hills

I'm sure there are many people like me with hidden hills in their lives. Some upward climbs, some downward slides. Some look back to see how far you've come. There are some beautiful things in the hidden hills, also some weariness. We lose people we love, and they stay somewhere in those hills. People come and go in our hills. We seem to come upon patches of flowers we admire and some we choose. Then there are the birds, so many beautiful birds. It is amazing to watch a big hawk ride the current for a long ride and not even flap its wings until it runs out of current or hits a little turbulence. That happens to a lot of people. We ride the wind, and then sometimes you must help yourself stay up when the current stops or when we hit a rough patch.

We grow through our experiences in our hidden hills, and we are better for what we've been through. God is always with us on our journeys and in our dealings in those hills. Keep a tight hold of his hand. I do. God's hands are always reaching out for you. The feelings he will give back to you are amazing. There is some daydreaming here and there in those hills. A sprinkle here and a spoonful there help make some things in life more palatable. Just don't overdo it. A little daydreaming and a lot of living life, that's a good balance. Let your scales always weigh on the heavy side when it comes to God. His weight brings blessings. God is not hiding in the hidden hills. He is everywhere for everyone who is looking for him.

She Hears the Wind

My book is inspired by the wind. Sometimes it's as if the wind is trying to say something. It can be a powerful force to deal with. We like to control things, don't we? We like things calm, right? The wind is out of our control, and we find ways to deal with it.One night after midnight, I woke up and told myself I could hear the wind. I started writing in the dark, and I wrote some of the wind poems. I had conversations with people who said they had never seen the wind like this ever in their lives. I know what they mean. We can't forget that God is in control. Always has been, always will be. The wind--I decided to have fun with it.
